Today I went to Ft. Desoto park which is south of St. Pete, I was there for a canoeing trip w/GTD... let me just gush about Ft. Desoto for a few minutes. It's basically this huge park right on the Gulf, and the beaches are awesome. They're peaceful and not overrun with tourists at all.
